Bonus Quotes on Habits

Friday, August 26th, 2011

“Success is a matter of understanding and religiously practicing specific, simple habits that always lead to success.”
~Robert J. Ringer~

First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not…Habit is persistence in practice.
~Octavia Butler~

“Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to
get out of.”
~Proverb~

Most of our failings are habits we have allowed ourselves to form and keep. We will probably never be perfect, but we can be less imperfect.
~Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of the Al-Anon Groups, 1980

“The more severe the pain or illness, the more sever will be the necessary changes. These may involve breaking bad habits, or acquiring some new and better ones.”
~Peter McWilliams~

“First we make our habits, then our habits make us.”
~Charles C. Noble~

“The thought manifests as the word The word manifests as the deed The deed develops into habit And habit hardens into character. So watch the thought and its ways with care, And let it spring from love born out of concern for all beings.”
~The Buddha~

“Winning is not a sometime thing it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”
~Vince Lombardi~

Habit is either the best of servants or the worst of masters.
~Nathaniel Emmons~

“Most people live, whether physically, intellectually or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul’s resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole bodily organism, should get into a habit of using and moving only his lttle finger. Great emergencies and crises show us how much greater our vital resources are than we had supposed.”
~William James~

Quote of the Day by Stephen Covey

Friday, August 26th, 2011

“Power is the faculty or capacity to act, the strength and potency to accomplish something. It is the vital energy to make choices and decisions. It also includes the capacity to overcome deeply embedded habits and to cultivate higher, more effective ones.”
~Stephen Covey~

Happy Friday everyone. I hope everyone is well prepared for the inclement weather this weekend! I say make the most of it. We’ll all be inside so hang out with some important people in your life and have some fun!

It’s my sincere hope that this weeks focus on habits has served to help every to start taking a look at the things that we’re doing regularly that are not serving us. Developing the ability to change habits is the development of personal power. It will open up a new word of possibilities in the lives of all who are willing to dedicate themselves to change. It will lead to the lives that are truly meant for us!

If you do not take a look at the habits that don’t serve you and make a commitment to change them what will your life look like this time next year? If you don’t make the changes from bad habits to success habits what will your life look like 5 years from now? What about 10? It is a fact that if you keep doing the things you’ve been doing you will keep getting the same results. If you are perfectly fine with those results than forget what I’ve said. But if you’re like most people and want more the time is always right NOW to do what it takes to get it!!!

So since these weekly themes are going to be a new Habit for Arise Ventures I’d like to get some feedback on what you guys think about this format moving forward. Also what topics you’d like for us to discuss. Please shoot me a quick note with your thoughts!!!

Have an amazing weekend!!!

Quote of the Day by George Moore

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

“A very slight change in our habits is sufficient to destroy our sense of our daily reality, and the reality of the world about us; the moment we pass out of our habits we lose all sense of permanency and routine.”
~George Moore~

What do you feel about your current reality? On a scale of 1 – 10 would you say that you are consistently living at a 10 in all important areas of your life? If your answer is yes it’s likely your bar for what a 10 is is set very very low. For just about everyone I know the answer will no doubt be lower. This means there is always room for improvement!

Continuing on this weeks theme of improving upon our habits the most striking thing to me about this quote is Mr. Moore’s statement that even a slight change in habit is sufficient to destroy our daily reality. The word destroy generally has a negative connotation to it but in this case it doesn’t. We might feel comfortable with our routines and our sense of permanency but these things don’t always serve us when they keep us in the same place. Life is all about growth! Destruction of the things that stand in the way of our highest ideals is destruction that we should look forward to! Destruction of a reality that is less than we are capable of is destruction we should yearn for in the process of creating our best life.

So going back to yesterday… Have you chosen your one habit for the quarter that you will remove from your life and replace with a success habit? Or do you have a habit of reading positive material but not acting on it?

Bonus: “A nail is driven out by another nail; habit is overcome by habit.” ~Latin Proverb~

Quote of the Day by J.Paul Getty & Warren Buffett

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

“The Individual who wants to reach the top in business much appreciate the might and force of habit. He must be quick to break those habits that can break him-and hasten to adopt those practices that will become the habits that help him achieve the success he desires.”
~J. Paul Getty~

Time for a Terrific Tuesday!!! Who’s with me?

It is said by many Psychologist that up to 90% of our day to day actions are Habitual. That means from the time we get up in the morning until we retire we do the same things over and over again everyday without even thinking of it. This cuts both ways depending on your habits. No matter who we are we have somethings we can improve upon. The important thing to remember is that you cannot change all your bad habits at once. Things we’ve been doing for years whether good or bad become so firmly entrenched that it will take diligent work and focus in order to reverse them. One of the best books I’ve ever read the Success Principles by Jack Canfield suggest we Develop 4 Success Habits per year. That’s one per quarter.

“Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.”
~Warren Buffett~

I would disagree with Mr. Buffett on the second half of this statement. Though it’s harder to break habits the longer you’ve had them it is very rarely impossible if your committed to it. So lets think of ourselves 3 months from today. November 23rd 2011. What one habit if removed and replaced from your life would serve to move you forward the most? Please don’t take this question lightly. Answering this question and creating a plan to act on it on will without a doubt move you on to higher levels of success in life. It will cement in your mind just how possible it is to improve in any area of life you desire. This will increase your confidence and you help move forward with removing and replacing a second habit and then a third. Make this process a new part of life and 5 years from now you will have replaced 20 bad habits with Success Habits. This kind of change is not incremental it’s transformational and it all starts right now for those who are ready? Are you?

Quote of the Day

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

JosephMcClendonIII

“Our habitual patterns and resourcefulness behaviors exist only as long as we do nothing to change them.  Recognize them, arrest them, interrupt them, and replace them, and life will change for the better.”
~Joseph McClendon III~

What things in my life am I no longer willing to except as part of my reality?  What specific steps will I take to remove them from my life and What positive alternatives will I use to replace them?

These questions have the power to change your Monday, to change your Thanksgiving week, and to change your life.  There isn’t anything you can’t have if you get rid of what is holding you back and a gain more of what’s going to move you forward!

Lets go forth and make this an amazing week!

HAPPY MONDAY!!!
